Description

painting practice. I feel like there's something to do with coloring and shading that I'm struggling with, so I've been trying to paint more and more often. It's like the coloring doesn't really blend well with other parts of the picture or something. Gonna have to tackle backgrounds soon too :P
I wanted her skin to be like a cool bluish grey, but I think I should have pushed for a little more whiteness so it would be silvery

Sooo when I was little we had this collection of russian/eastern european?? fairytales for VHS. One of them was a story about a spoiled little princess. A witch disguised as an old widow visited the castle and gave the girl a golden dress after the girl spat at her and put salt and pepper in the poor woman's soup. But the dress made her light as a feather and soon she floated away out one of the open windows in the castle. For days she floated through the sky unable to come down. Finally she landed near a castle on water. She made her way to the castle, for she was very hungry. But to her surprise it was the witch who opened the door. The witch lead her to a table laden with a huge feast. But when the girl bit into an apple, she discovered it was made of salt and pepper, she tried everything on the table, but it was all salt and pepper.

Needless to say she learned her lesson. :P I think that's sorta what inspired me? I wanted the golden dress, but also kinda wanted to play on the salt and pepper with her ash-y skin. i

C&C appreciated, especially in regards to the process of painting! c:

This is great! She does look like she's from a mysterious fairy tale.
